"Mother and Child"

Life seems to have a way of leaving us with emotional whiplash. After the unity and love expressed at Muhammad Ali's funeral in Louisville, the mass killing at an Orlando nightclub has left us in shock. The political arguing over the motive of the killer is, frankly, kind of sickening. Let's state the obvious - a disturbed and hate-filled young man killed or wounded over 100 people in a gay nightclub on a night when Latin Americans had been especially invited.

Early on the morning of June 12, a mother wept outside Pulse, and told a reporter that she could not find her son. Breaking down during the interview, she wailed, "He is my only child!"
