Grace Immanuel UCC is looking to hire an Office Assistant/Bookkeeper

 

Job Summary:  Grace Immanuel UCC is a progressive and inclusive community of Christian faith, welcoming and affirming all types of individuals and families. The Secretary/Bookkeeper will serve as the church receptionist welcoming those who come through the church doors, those who call and those who communicate electronically. This employee is responsible for general secretarial and bookkeeping duties.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate internal, external, and digital communications 

  • Prepare bulletins, informational inserts, slides, and media for weekly worship

  • Coordinate the use of the church facility

  • Maintain ledger of accounts and financial transactions

  • Assist the Church Treasurer in financial record keeping and reporting

  • Process church mail and communications

  • Take care of church office equipment and supplies

  • Uphold and enforce church policies

  • Maintain open lines of communication with Pastor, staff, and volunteers

  • Provide appropriate confidentiality

 

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and accounting software

  • Understanding of general accounting principles

  • Ability to operate general office machinery

  • Ability to manage website and social media platforms

  • Excellent communication and people skills 

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.

  • Three (3) years of successful clerical/bookkeeping experience in an office environment

 

Hours and Compensation:

  • Up to 20 hours per week as determined by need

  • $15-$18 per hour depending on experience

  • The Personnel Committee of the Council will conduct an annual performance review, with input from the Pastor.
